Why would you want a healthy body? Well, the question should be; Who doesn’t want a healthy body?
Your body is your temple. You take your body with you everywhere you go. If you live in ha strong and healthy body you will be able to go and do whatever you want. If on the other hand your body is weak and unhealthy you are limited in what you are able to do in your body.
So why do we have such a hard time to keep our body healthy? Why do we put such low emphasis on what is really important here in life? Without a strong and healthy body we are nothing.
What can we do to keep our body healthy?
Here are some of the basic guidelines for a healthy body.
1. Get enough sleep – at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night. This will help refresh your body, it will get your muscles and your mind relaxed and ready for new endeavors the next day. Try going to sleep a little earlier than you are used to. If you spend the evening on the couch watching TV, there is nothing that says that you cannot go to bed half an hour, or perhaps even an hour, earlier. This might be enough to clear your mind and be more fit and concentrated the next day. If you don’t have the possibility to go to bed earlier every day, try going to bed earlier 3-4 times a week.
2. Drink water – at least 2 liters every day. Our body is 2/3 made of water. Most of us are dehydrated because we don’t get enough liquid in our body. Sometimes you might think you are hungry, but really it is your body telling you that it needs water. In order to keep our mind fresh and get rid of toxins in our body it is imperative that you get enough liquid throughout the day to compensate for the liquid that leaves your body. A rule of thumb is that you should drink half your body-weight in ounces of water. As example; I weigh 143 pounds (65 kg). Dividing 143 by 2 you get 71, which means I should drink 71 ounces (2 liters) of water every day.
3. Exercise. Get some exercise every day. It doesn’t have to be hard and it should be something you enjoy doing. You may want to go for fast walk or take the stairs instead of the elevator for 3-4 floors. Take your dog for a walk, spend some time in the gym, do some Pilates or other types of workout through videos you find on YouTube. Getting some exercise every day will help you release stress from your body. Exercise is important for your self-esteem and your well-being. Exercise is important to build and maintain bone, muscles and joints. By being in shape your body is more flexible and stronger. Exercise lowers the risk of heart disease, colon cancer, diabetes and controls blood pressure
4. Eat healthy – get away from French Fries, Hamburgers and other types of unhealthy fast food. Try integrating more vegetables in your diet. Try using less pre-made frozen foods and more home-made fresh meals prepared in your own kitchen. By preparing your meals yourself you know what you are giving your body to eat, and it doesn’t really take that much more time to prepare a healthy meal. Have a look here.
5. Healthy computer and TV habits. Don’t spend hours and hours surfing the net or watching TV. Force yourself to get up of that chair or off that couch. Force yourself to turn that button off every once in a while. If you need to spend time on the computer or on the internet; Try writing down a list of what you want to get done in the next 30 minutes or an hour. That way you will stay focused and get things done faster and more accurate. When the time you decided to dedicate is up, do something different. You may come back later with a new list of what you want to get done now.
6. Don’t scare your mind. Stay away from bad news and scary movies in the evening. Things that leave a strong bad impression in your mind are harder to forget when you go to bed. If you have a relaxed mind when you go to bed you will fall to sleep faster, sleep better and wake up more refreshed in the morning
7. Most important; Stay positive. Having a positive way of thinking will help you achieve what you want more easily. If your mindset is negative it is impossible to be successful in what you are doing. Try always to keep a positive attitude towards yourself and towards life around you. There will always be challenges, but as long as you are able to stay positive, it is easier to stay in the flow of energy that pushes you along in a healthy way.
Live life in a healthy body!
